Art Class Taster session x rethink.org

Our art classes are a great chance to connect with your creativity and enjoy some playful explorations within a friendly and supportive group.

This taster session, in collaboration with rethink.org, will give you the chance to see how our classes could work for you. We will begin with some basic perspective work, with the opportunity to try out a whole range of different mediums. We are completely beginner friendly and will provide you with all the materials you need. We are all about mindfulness, enjoyment and relaxation, so don't worry if you haven't picked up a pencil in years - we'd still love to have you! To book, you must have been referred through rethink.org who will provide you with a password to enable you to place your order.

We do not have a fixed cost for our taster class, but will instead be accepting donations that will go towards the running of our community enterprise. This option will become available when you book your ticket.

After the taster session you will have the option to come to our regular sessions which take place on Wednesday evenings at our studio in Pithay Studios, or Sunday mornings at the Royal Photographic Society.

Half Term Architectural Design Workshop

The 3 day workshop will be from 10am - 3pm daily and will be £150pp (£50/day). It will be suitable for ages 12+ and we will be exploring using organic and natural forms as inspiration for a built space. They will produce both drawn and hand built outcomes.

We are particularity passionate about opening up the study of architecture to our students to allow them insight into a 'hidden' profession. When I worked in practice I became overtly aware of the exclusive feel architecture still supports and the lack of diversity still present in the industry. Our hope is that our classes can bring the world of building/spacial design closer to our students so that it becomes as ordinary as a maths or english class - after all, our build environment creates the fabric of our world and should be a reflection of all the voices, cultures and communities that make up our society!

There is a kitchen on site with a fridge, microwave and kettle for those who wish to bring packed lunches. There is also a cafe on site, or we can accompany students into town to buy their lunch there if preferred.

Spacial Design Workshop

"The game of light and shadow act as the sound and silence within a song" - OOIIO

We already know the importance of light in a space, but shadow is as equally important in the perception and experience of space. These shadows create mood and interests depending on how we perceive them. In this workshop, our students will work to create a design outcome that considers the meaning of light and shadow beyond the widely discussed economic and performance factors like efficiency or visibility

They will create models to experiment with this balance, and photograph their outcomes.

Suitable for ages 12+.
